On Eternal Covenants

On Eternal Covenants

Eternal covenants are said to bind souls within the divine — threads that stretch beyond the veil of mortality. But I find myself wondering if mercy exists even within eternity. Perhaps the Brothers Three, in their infinite wisdom, will grant compassion rather than condemnation.

I hope they are merciful, for I did not abandon nor walk away. I did not petition the law of the land — the law which the divine asks us to honor so long as it remains just and does not contradict divine truth. And even when the laws of mortals oppose the laws of heaven, we are not given the right to enforce divine law upon another. We must abide by the law as it stands, for that, too, is the will of the divine.

Yet in severing a covenant, what makes the one who abandons it believe the other should wait — months, years, even lifetimes — to be called back only once it is easy again, once the veil has lifted? What faith can be left in creation if you cannot be present when creation is hardest?

If you cannot see eternity while still mortal, how will you recognize it when you are divine? The mortal world is our courtship with eternity — a proving ground of faith, sacrifice, and love. If we cannot complete that courtship with simple, selfless action, how can we hope to embody selfless divinity? To abandon what is sacred in the flesh is to sow chaos in the spirit.

So perhaps, in the end, the Brothers Three will grant clemency — not because the covenant was forgotten, but because one still remembered when it mattered most.
